In April 2021 I was honoured to speak at this conference. Muslim women often get pigeonholed into speaking about Women in Islam or gender issues. This event broke open more space for Muslim women to discuss their politics and vision beyond this lens.
Text from Strive UK: Women’s conference 2021: Inspiring #women leading the Ummah Muslim women, for the most part, lost the esteemed public roles they had gained under the Prophet ﷺ and his immediate successors, and by and large, an older, deep-rooted ideal of women as inferior, gained greater staying power within religious discourses and society at large. Let’s come together to listen to these trailblazing women to unlearn the bias and educate ourselves to appreciate the crucial role women can play within our societies, particularly as leaders.
