PODCAST: Internalising Islamophobia, US Think Tanks and New / Old Colonialisms

Professor Hakimeh Saghaye-Biria joins Arzu Merali to discuss the ways  her book ‘Political Islamolphobia’ that colonialism past and present has socially engineered the emotional and cultural expectations of those it has colonised.

Looking at the situation now, she argues that the tropes and social engineering agendas of ‘Political Islamophobia’ have been generated for decades in American Policy Institutes. This in turn, is finding real world application amongst Muslim nations world-wide as we see neo-colonialism taking shape in many forms.

Hakimeh Saghaye-Biria discuss the internalisation of Islamophobia.  Where has the inferiority complex that so many post-colonial countries and societies in the Muslim world come from?  She argues that ‘Political Islamophobia’ has been generated in US think tanks for decades, and has been aimed at socially engineering compliant Muslims.
